Otari BTR-5
« on: June 24, 2011, 07:39:12 AM »
Hello everybody! My first post here...

I bought an BTR-5 on ebay, very cheap.
It's working fine and sounds good but I do not have a manual and can not find a source.

Can anybody help?

Thanks a lot

Search the web for a manual for the MTR-15. It's close enough to the same deck that the manual will likely cover everything you need.

Don't have a source for you, but an MTR-10 manual might be easier to find and I imagine it might have some info that would be applicable to the BTR-5.

Huh, Paul beat me to it.

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the forum.
You should probably try asking for info on this machine over on the "Otari Equipment" yahoo group (you need to register to join the group first). It seems like a pretty rare broadcast model.
Could you take a second and list the features such as speeds, heads etc? Also the year of production would be cool.
Thanks

Dear Paul,
dear Dan,
dear Steve,

sorry for the late reply (saw The Eagles in Berlin) and thanks a lot for your answers.

My Otari has 3 speeds up to 15 ips, NAB and CCIR and tape A/B.
1/4", 2 track, just right for the TP tapes...
Don't know when it was build...

I downloaded the MTR-10 manual and will see how far I come with it. My Otari does not have the external accessible cards.
I am waiting for the approval for the tech-group...

My biggest problem is that I am (as an mechanical engineer) fighting with the alignments and measurements of tape machines in general but that's only my problem...

My main machine is a Studer 807.

regards
