Studer A810
audioblazers:
A few weeks ago my Studer pinch roller melted- wonder how that can happen. Anyway it happens. I sent it to a technician to get it repair & decided to align the tape using the alignment tape from Tape Project. Would it make any difference is I get it align using the internal electronic or the external preamp of Bottlehead ? Thanks

I'll give this a try but I'm not an expert. I understnd there's physical alignment and electronic one. Physical alignment consists in making sure the tape and heads are aligned and consists in adjusting azymuth, head height, etc. That alignment does not depend on the electronics you use.
Electronic alignment conaists in setting up the electronics, together with the transport, so that you get a flat response. Obviously this is done for a specific preamp.

This forum is really quiet.
Xcortes, thanks for the feedback
