Joni Mitchell Hejira and 'Reel to Reel'
« on: February 24, 2013, 08:31:06 PM »
I was listening to my old Joni Mitchell albums and all of a sudden I heard her say 'reel to reel.' It is in the first cut of her 1975 album 'Hejira'.
"No regrets Coyote
We just come from such different circumstance
I'm up all night in the studios
And you're up early on your ranch
You'll be brushing a brood mare's tail
While the sun is ascending
And I'll just be getting home with my reel to reel...

Elvis Costello, "Radio Radio", 1978

Some of my friends sit around every evening
And they worry about the times ahead
But everybody else is overwhelmed by indifference
And the promise of an early bed
You either shut up or get cut up, they don't wanna hear about it
It's only inches on the reel-to-reel
And the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools
Tryin' to anesthetize the way that you feel
