Listening party at the studio, SF
« on: June 20, 2014, 04:24:41 PM »
Calling all tapeheads. We will be gathering Sunday July 20, 2014, 5 PM in the friendly confines of Michael Romanowski Mastering in central San Francisco, for the express purpose of having a good time and spinning some reels. We have specifically invited the subscribers of the Yahoo reel-to-reel list as well, and promised to be ready to play 7 inch reels as well as Tape Project tapes. Anyone is welcome to bring along any tape you'd like to play.

In this instance we need to know in advance who's coming, so please RSVP to queen at bottlehead dot com. Eileen will confirm by email and include the rest of the details.

Romo, Dan and I will all be there (as well as Queen Eileen, and possibly surprise guests.) More such events are being planned in other cities as well.

If I would still be welcome, I will try to email Bottlehead and set it up to be there.

Just a bump to remind everyone of the listening session this Sunday at the studio, and to please RSVP if you haven't already.

Thanks,

Are you going to be set up to play 1/4 track as well as 2 track 7" reel,  7 1/2 ips. NAB tapes?
(of course as well as Tape Project ones)

Hi Tom,

Eileen is I charge of RSVPs and she is on a little extra vacation from our vacation until tomorrow night, so she may not respond. Consider the two of you added to the attendee list. Ping me at docb at bottlehead dot com and I will send the address. Looking forward to seeing you.

Hi Steve, we will have Romo's Otari MX-5050B something or other and a Tube Repro at the studio so we can handle 1/4 track NAB no problema.

Is the Studio still on Mission?  Don't remember the exact address - between 9th and 10th as I remember.   Larry

Let me second that. Always great to see everyone, and hear awesome music. Also great to meet Dan and Eileen for the first time.

I concur!
Thanks to all who made it possible. The sound was out of this world (as expected).
It was so great to see everybody and chat a bit.

The big Focals sound improved since the last time I heard them (which was quite a while ago). Really tough to tell where the speakers were without looking. And the bass and lower mids filled the room perfectly. They really let the tapes and artists do their thing.

I took a look down the hall at the tracking room and wow! It's like a dream in there.
Just beautiful Michael!

No matter how you slice it, it was a treat!
Thanks again to our hosts!
