California Audio Show tape demos
« on: August 02, 2014, 03:26:25 PM »
http://caaudioshow.com/

Just like last year, I've been hired by a high end headphone amp company to demo his amps using my tape rig and Tape Project tapes.
The company is Headamp located in Va and their electrostatic headphone amp is considered by many to be at the top of the heap for amps of that type.

I'll be exhibiting in a dedicated headphone/vinyl sales room called "HeadMasters" which is conveniently located directly behind the show attendees registration desk. HeadMasters is a large room with multiple vendors, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that I'll be the only one with a Technics RS1500/Bottlehead Repro being used as a source.

I'll be there Friday-Sunday and hope to see some of your smiling faces!
I haven't heard, but I would imagine there will be other rooms rolling tape.

BTW, if there is a particular tape from the Tape Project catalog that you're dying to hear, shoot me a PM letting me know which tape and what day you're going to attend. I'll do my best to remember to bring it (by Sunday my brain will be squishier than usual!).

We'll also have a deck spinning tapes in the room of Burwell And Sons loudspeakers, the San Bruno suite on the third floor.

Gordon Burwell (along with his sons, naturally) makes some really beautifully crafted speakers, mostly based on the Altec A7, but with higher class woodworking.

I'll be in the suite and punching buttons on the tape deck for a while Friday and again on Sunday. Michael Romanowski will probably be doing the same for a while on Saturday, and Piper Payne will likely be there too, schedule to be determined.

I had a great time at playing tapes for folks at the show this year.
Thanks again to Paul for providing a "sampler" tape. It's great not to worry about the wear and tear on my personal tapes.
Seeing the shocked faces of first time tape listeners is a treat I never get tired of and there were plenty this year.
So, thanks for all you guys who stopped by to say hi (I was surprised to see Ki Choi and it was great to chat).

Regarding wear, I can hardly count how many times I've played some of my tapes (like side 1 of both Blackjack David and The Arnold Overtures) and they both seem to sparkle and snap just like the day I got them.
I had them both at the show and they probably got the most praise.
