IEC hiding inside RS-1500?
« on: January 01, 2008, 04:07:41 PM »
Hello all,

Someone (won't say who w/o permission) told me that the schematic for the RS-1500 shows circuitry for IEC as well as NAB.

Perhaps the circuit board is the same as for the RS-1520, but it is missing the switch included in the more expensive model.

Can someone look inside and see?  Would open up new machines for use with the tape project tapes if it is a trivial mod to add the
switch.

thanks!

Adrian

Adrian,

It was me and I may have mispoke.  Upon checking, it turns out I have the schematics of the 1520, not the 1500.  In the playback amp, turning on transistor TR127 "energizes" IEC equalization.  As I don't have the 1500 schematics I don't know if these components are supplied with that deck.  Sorry if I misinformed anyone.

They are different inside.  IEC EQ  in the 1520 is on a card that is different than that used in the 1500.

Sorry for the false alarm.
