Hello,
I plan to buy my first stereo tape machine, the purpose is to use it mainly as a studio effect for recording, say, drumloops, bass grooves, vocals, and so on in order to add that "tape sound" and then to bring my tracks back to my DAW.
I have the possibility to buy a Revox A77 in very good shape with full service done and alignment to the tape I want (probably RMG SM911).
Is it a good choice for what I want to do with a tape machine? Does B77, PR99, or other brands like Studer would be better (ie. strong tape sonic character but better S/N for instance)?
Thanks.
