Several Technics machines for sale
« on: March 17, 2009, 02:57:58 PM »
We have recently acquired a few Technics machines that have been offered in trade for work on other Technics. Right now we have an RS1520, an RS1500 and an RS1506 in stock, as well as Big Red, our custom red RS1500.

All have been modded to work with an outboard preamp like a tape head Seduction and all have been aligned for playback by our tech. They all sound and run great. Prices below do not include shipping.

The RS1520 is in about 85-90% cosmetic condition with slight wear on the edges of the front panel. Has gold RCA jacks for the direct head output, freshly relapped 1/4 track and 1/2 track playback heads and our tape path mod. It has developed just the slightest bit of bearing noise in the capstan motor, a common trait of these machines. Strobe stability is spot on - better than most - so the bearing noise does not affect performance. It has the black side panels and the stock power cord. Comes with two Technics reels and Technics hub adapters. Price is $1500.

The RS1506 is in very nice 95% cosmetic condition, with the rosewood veneer side panels. Runs great, has gold RCA jacks for the direct head output, freshly relapped 1/4 track and 1/2 track playback heads and our tape path mod. Has the stock power cord. Comes with two Technics reels and Technics hub adapters. Price is $1800.

The RS1500 runs great but is a bit rough cosmetically, maybe a 75%. It has no side panels, it's missing a couple of switch tips and the front panel has that curious rash of paint chipping between the take up turntable and the right tension arm that you see on some 1500s. I don't know what causes this. It runs great and has freshly relapped 1/4 track and 1/2 track playback heads, our tape path mod, and gold RCA jacks for the direct head output. It also has had an IEC power cord socket installed. Price is $1000.

We also have Big Red, our custom painted red RS1500 available. Freshly relapped stock 1/4 track and 1/2 track playback heads, IEC power cord mod, tape path mod, hybrid ceramic tension arm bearings, gold RCA jacks for the direct head output, custom red paint job by j-corder on the front and side panels, Darklabs NAB hub adapters with our own custom spacers, and a Tape Project take up reel. Price is $3200. We can upgrade the 1/2 track playback head to a Flux Magnetics extended response head for an additional $650.

We also have one assembled Seduction tape head preamp done with a bronze chassis plate that goes nicely with the stock Technics paint color, for $700, and one Tube Repro in bronze anodize for $4000. I will discount either of these 10% if purchased with one of the above machines.
