Title: Christmas tape play
Post by: Listens2tubes on December 23, 2012, 09:31:12 PM
Today is Xmas eve-eve. I have and played three tapes of the Nutcracker suite. But the one I've wanted to play for some time is the 5" A Christmas Greeting in Stereophonic Sound. It's an Ampex 2 track gift tape. Something you got from your ampex dealer as an extra or gift. Souds great and is in amazingly good shape, probably due to being played only a few times during Christmas.  Merry Christmas to all.

Hey Neal,
Nice find!

I'll probably throw on the BC "Christmas at St Johns" while I prep dinner.

And a Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I have that Ampex tape as well. Unfortunately, mine has a piece missing...
I also have a 2 track Christmas music tape by Carmen Dragon with the "Hollywood Bowl Symphony" on Capitol, of course.
Merry Christmas and Happy Listening

Yes, Thanks Neal

The Nutcracker has always been my favorite Christmas music.  Especially loved the two-tape Westminster, Rodzinski version, but have sadly lost track of it over the years.   In heavy rotation the last week has been (horrors) a CD of carols by a string quartet - John Marks "Rejoice!"

Happy New Year everyone.

Charles

Another good BC is "the spirit of christmas". Steve, I think I have an extra copy. I'll send it to you before next Christmas.

I've got that one Xavier but totally forgot about it!
Thanks for reminding me though.
Christmas ended up being Bud Powell day at the Koto homestead. No tape but plenty of vinyl!
