I used a 'plain fine all purpose lubricating oil' from the local hardware store.
I picked the one that just contained 'oil' as it seemed the safest to use.
Radio Shack I think has 'fine oil' but I am not sure what is added to it.
This was a get it running repair, so I could find other problems.
If I had more time, I would check on the net for a lighter oil.

PS:Since the deck is for home use I removed the XLR outputs
and replaced them with $1.29 strip of 4 cheap phono jacks
I found at Radio Shack. I had planed to make adapters,
but I ordered male XLR plugs instead of female ones.
!!!Don't look Ironbut!!!

PS: I know they make real jacks but I have no  idea where to find them.

Postscript:  I did find them, but it will be awhile before I order them.
Compared to the Audio prices for RCA Jacks, $5.00 each is not a bad price.
