I wonder how well those old '50's era Chess Blues tapes are holding up...

I'd love to hear some Willie Dixon upright bass lines with Little Walter, Jimmy Rogers, Otis Spann and of course, Muddy Waters. Or better yet, how about some late '40's recordings with Big Crawford on bass, Sunnyland Slim on piano and McKinley Morganfield guitar and vocals.

Most of what I've been listening to lately was released as singles. Does that make it out of reach for reasonable access to The Tape Project?

Well I wouldn't mind some more Blues, doesn't have to be Chess or any other special label. Just good music that we all can enjoy.

MoFi did a real nice job with Muddy Waters Folk Singer on CD not too long ago, so at least some of the old Chess tapes must be in decent shape.  I would definitely be up for some good blues - my preference would be for some Howlin' Wolf, or Hoodoo Man Blues by Jr. Wells with Buddy Guy(on Delmark, not Chess), but I'm flexible.
