Prerecorded Tapes / James Brown "Soul On Top" 120Hz hum.
« on: December 05, 2011, 05:52:43 PM »
Hello all.
Got this tape (GRT made KING 0032-1100), and it has noticeable 120Hz hum, I have about 150 pre-records, and only this tape got this type of defect.
Should I search another exemplar? Or they all sick with it?

Anton.

Hello.
I talk about TP albums on hub in plain box without album art (even maybe 35 micron tape?),
less weight - less shipping cost, maybe it may help you slightly rise up number of subscribers.
What do you think about it?

Sorry for my poor English.
Anton.

Tape Tech / tonight I run first version of tubed dolby decoder
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:14:34 PM »
Hi guys!
Last year I spend a lot of time thinking about how to built tubed dolby decoder,
and today I finish soldering, and it works!

Sound pretty good compared to IC based decoder, but I'm still not finished a calibration of this tube unit.

After calibration I can record some demo files, unfortunately I don't have a BC tapes, but I have some Mo-Fi cassette tapes.

Sorry for my poor english.

Anton.

Labels Strive to Rectify Past Archival Problems

BY BILL HOLLAND - Today, catalog preservation is more of a priority for the major U.S. record companies than at any time in the history of the century-old industry. But these efforts come too late for untold numbers of recordings, old and not so old, that have been thrown away, mislaid, left behind in warehouses, and even sold for scrap......

General Discussion / How about a master/production copy's exchange?
« on: September 19, 2007, 02:43:58 AM »
Hi all!

Most of us have some 15ips 1/2 track master/production tapes, or copys of this tapes that stand's in the shelves.
How about copy's exchange?
I have some rock music on production tapes, some with dolby-A encoding, now i build a processor around original dolby cat.22 cart.
So i can copy this tapes unencoded.

I think best format for exchange will be 15 ips 1/2 track, but if someone who want's to exchange dont't have second pro-grade halftrack machine, 4 track recorded in one direction (to prevent crosstalk) will be a good compromise.

We can use the same RGMI tape (from ebay, or other sources). So if someone will be dissapointed in quality - still will be one positive moment: you get the same tape back :-)
But i hope that this situation never happens.

So, any minds about this?

Hi all!

Anybody have Elton John - "don't shoot me..."(MCA 2100-C) album on R2R?
I have some questions.
My tape sounds like it was recorded via incorrect adjusted dolby noise reduction unit
(HF dynamics not natural, and sound of cymbals fade too fast).
Tape look's like it should be original (old tape, brown color).
I very like this album, should I take attempt to buy another exemplar, or are all have the same bad quality?

Thank you!

Anton. Russia.
