Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Nagra T-i (instrumentation) for audio?
« on: August 10, 2010, 06:39:13 PM »
Hi!

Does anybody exprienced Nagra Ti?

Can this beautiful machine be used as a audiophile purpose?

I read some posts about Nagra 4-sj's unsuitable usage for audio because of its

main purpose for instrumentation.

Is it same for nagra Ti?

Ti is as beautiful as TA.. and I'm very sorry for its original purpose.

If anyone used it as a hifi purpose well, please let me know!

Thanks

Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Nagra T audio
« on: August 06, 2010, 08:20:55 PM »
Hi!
I have a plan to buy nagra T-audio....just one foot before..
I have two questions...

1. A guy who has T-audio with meter bridge told me that
"Nagra T is calibrated and optimized (from nagra or professional distributor? )to one tape (ex AMPEX 456, quantegy gp9...) so I must know the machine's optimization history"
Is it right?

2. There is a clean machine around me, and I may buy it..but there is a problem
When the machine turn on, the "error 7"(not sure the exact number) is shown on lcd pannel, and the owner said to me that
the number means the battery inside is out. But recordings and playings are no problem, only time code problem.. he said.
If I would buy the machine, Could I exchane the battery? he said the battery is what he had no experience with before...

Thanks

Taejung
