Tape Tech / warped reels?
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:44:22 PM »
OK,
about half of all the tape project tapes i receive have warped reels in which the tape scrapes against one edge of the reels.  is this normal?  what is the best way to correct it short of brutally trying to flatten them?

Suggestion Box / Fleetwood Mac

I was listening to a Japanese LP pressing of "Rumours" that had an incredible sound.  All the tracks are solid hits and would be an excellent selection for tape especially since there is a paucity of classic rock from that era (I don't think The Band's "Stage Fright" does justice.  The other LP would be the self titled LP that contains "Landslide" and "Rhiannon."

Suggestion Box / Natalie Merchant: Tigerlily
« on: June 24, 2010, 02:30:21 AM »
Hello all,
I've been listening to the Mobile Fidelity LP release of Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily on 45 RPM and never was as emotionally moved by the whole presentation (especially Natalie's voice) as I am with this release.  It would be an amazing sounding tape.  Any other takers?  Tape Project gentlemen, I hope you hear me.  I appreciate your work.

Suggestion Box / Mark Knopfler/Emmylou Harris: All the Roadrunning

This recording mastered by Stan Ricker on vinyl is perhaps one of my favorite recordings of all time.  It has something for everyone on it and it would probably push our beloved format to the max.  It would sound awsome I'm sure and it probably wouldn't be difficult to license.  What does everybody think?  Please consider it.

Suggestion Box / Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes

Hi all,
I was listening to Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes LP and it sounds fantastic.  This would sound amazing on tape.  It would be a great addition to Series 3.  Any thoughts?

Suggestion Box / Led Zeppelin anyone?
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:41:38 AM »
Hello all,
I posted some suggestions for series 3 previously.  Among these was Led Zeppelin's first album.  This would be a killer and would be the way to go for a rock selection.  All due respect to The Band's Stage Freight, Led Zeppelin would do more justice on tape.  Anyone else with me?

Suggestion Box / Series 3 suggestions
« on: January 18, 2010, 05:38:11 AM »
OK, I am a new member and just ordered series 1 and 2 tapes.  I always admired my dad's reel to reels and I have always wanted a way to buy brand new ones so the Tape Project is a dream come true since I was 12.  That being said, I must say I do like classical and jazz but I find old school rock missing from the collection (except for The Band's Stage Fright).  Here are my suggestions (sorry if some are obvious and may be difficult to license, but it's my 2 cents worth):
Miles Davis:  Kind of Blue
Miles Davis:  Sketches of Spain
Dave Brubeck:  Time Out
Pink Floyd:  Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd:  The Wall
Led Zeppelin:  first album (to hear "Babe, I'm gonna leave you" on tape would blow my mind!)
Norah Jones:  Come away with me
Tori Amos:  Little Earthquakes
Patrica Barber:  Cafe Blue
Pearl Jam:  Vitalogy
R.E.M.:  Automatic for the people
Madeleine Peyroux:  Careless Love
Alanis Morissette:  Supposed former infatuation junkie

OK, what do you think?
