Parasound CBD Belt Drive CD Transport
« on: March 13, 2009, 05:23:01 PM »
Understanding that this is a forum for reel to reel tape enthusiast I am going to post this statement and question anyway. I recently purchased a Parasound Belt Drive CD transport. I want to have it gone over by a good tech for cleaning the lens, oiling where it needs it, checking out the belt, etc. I don't know of any good techs for this purpose. Can you help me? Thanks for any and all responses.

Long time no see Bob! I seem to remember a place that was doing some mods to the control boards on those but you'll have to give me some time to come up with it. Are you still in the DC area? For basic servicing I'd call Parasound since these companies usually have shops that do factory authorized servicing in most larger cities. I think it's always better if you can avoid the shipping monsters if you know what I mean.

Hello Steve,
How are you my friend? I hope you and family are all doing great. It has been a while since I've ventured. I have been very busy and yes I am still in Baltimore, Maryland. I am still in the process of selling the house. This is a tough, tough market.

Thank you so much for the response. I will certainly give Parasound a try. As I understand it, CEC actually made the transports for Parasound. I have sent off an email to CEC to see if any of their newer transports till use parts that was used in the Parasound transports. As always you are most helpful. Thanks again and have a very blessed day and weekend.

Steve, again I have to thank you. Actually, I had no idea that Parasound would still sell parts for this beautiful CD transport which was actually made by CEC for Parasound. I thought the effort would be a waste of time.

I wanted a seperate trasport so that I could add the DAC of my choice. I am thinking tubes. I have also found at least two (2) techs who can work on this transport if any work is needed. Again, great advice Steve.
