Tape Tech / New (to me) ST 1510A question
« on: May 12, 2011, 09:26:26 AM »
I just received a Sound Technology 1510A tape recorder test instrument and have managed to download and print the owner's manual. My question deals with the "self test" operation. During the test the display cycles from "A" to "T" then quickly goes through "UVWX...". Then the display says, "test complete rev 14", but I don't see the "I'm okay you're okay" that the manual indicates. I can hear the test tones changing as the test proceeds, but wondering if that's all it's supposed to show?
Thanks, Ken

Tape Tech / Inverse tape playback circuit
« on: January 15, 2008, 04:39:48 PM »
Is anyone familiar with a test instrument that would convert a sine wave, for example, into various tape playback curves? There are inverse RIAA circuits that allow an engineer to examine a potential RIAA circuit and see if it will output a flat response. I was wondering if there is such a device that would do a wide variety of playback EQ curves?
Thanks, Ken

Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Question on Scully 280B
« on: March 01, 2007, 02:52:11 PM »
Newbie here, first time posting. Seems like a good bunch of fellows all around. Is anybody familiar with a Scully 280B, that I have, that operates vertically? In other words, the supply and take-up reels are above one another, as opposed to side-by-side. I must say the overall construction, of this deck, is excellent. The mechanics are beautiful to look at.
