rmgi which bias for rs-1500 sm900, 911 or other?

Hi
Can any one enlighten me on the differences between the different rmgi tapes and maybe give me their recommendations
I am trying to get the best sound possible
I am trying to take my original  digital master songs and warm them up by bouncing to and from my r2r
Also a suppier would be great

Im going to try a small reel of each and go from there

The normal operating point is to set bias for minimum 3rd harmonic distorsion (THD) @ 1 kHz.

Sorry for the late reply,.. totally forgot about your post.

If you plan to bounce your mixes (2 buss or single tracks) , I suggest that only you can say what's going to work best.
Kind of like asking what settings a tape saturation plug in should be set at.
It totally depends on your vision of what you wish to accomplish and the track in question.

That said, you should do some experimenting with different tape types. There are other folks who do this and it would probably be a good idea to ask somewhere like GearSlutz or TapeOp to ask other folks which tapes and speeds they're using.

If you have an RS1500 owners manual, they do have some general recommendations regarding bias and eq settings for various tapes. Most tapes like 911 do pretty well with bias and eq at the middle setting(#2). I'm not sure about 900 but you should be able to figure it out by looking at the charts over at US Recording Media.
