Also Bruce Brown will have a tape deck there in the Blue Light audio room (definitely a must hear room for tape heads as Bruce always has some tasty tunes rolling!).

Thanks Myles...   The Blue Light Audio room will have an ATR-102 and the Usher/JPS room will have a modified Studer A80RC MkII

Yes, most of the time it can be without affecting the the frequencies around it too much.

You might want to check these forums. They seem to claim it's a -10db instead of a +4db mixer. As they say, XLR does not guarantee +4.

Also like the above post suggests... pin 3 hot.

I called them about the new decks and for a mear 6K I can have a new reel. I'll stick with my Tascam 38

For that price, you can pick up a mint Studer!

Ki...  you would be apalled at what passes for mastering studios these days.

There are people here in Seattle (that actually work for labels) that "master" in their bedrooms with computer speakers.

This has been an endless fight in online mastering forums. I think the best mastering rooms are from Gateway and Sterling...  The key ingredient in mastering rooms (besides the engineer's ears) are the room's acoustics. We spent a ton of money on our acoustics. Rooms are PRICEY$$ and not as sexy as rack of Neve equipment or a Studer A820 in the corner.

Does look like it has a great vibe! I wouldn't use it as a mastering studio until I made some changes. You don't usually see 16-24 track machines in a mastering room
