Hi People,

The Tape Project Tapes work in mysterious just like GOD's work. I just tried something new in Sydney Australia. I put my STUDER A-810 fully rebuild and tuned to The Tape Project needs and 2 albums from The Tape Project list (BlackJack David and Linda Ronstadt) on display on a reputable Hi-Fi shop from Sydney (Castle Hill). I want to see the impact it has on people....

« on: June 12, 2014, 04:59:28 PM »
Hi people,

After a long and exhausting search I managed to get a TAPE PROJECT tape. I got the TP-002 Blackjack David, so I can say that still exist people which sells their TP tapes but hard to find them. What can I say....woooooow it was worth the wait. I am totally hooked in. I could not believed my ears that such sound can be captured on tape. Of course that my A-810 also helped!!!!
Regards from Australia

Tape Project Albums - general / TAPE PROJECT TAPE
« on: October 31, 2010, 05:54:32 PM »
Hi you all,

I been to an ABC auction recently and managed to get a STUDER A810 HS+VU in pretty good condition for about AUD$425.00. I heard a lot and read about THE TAPE PROJECT TAPES. Now I have a machine which is not modified but can play a TAPE PROJECT TAPE but looks like you have to spend a lot of money via selective subscription to get a TAPE. I'd like to have a test of one tape. IS THERE ANY WAY YOU CAN GET A TAPE BESIDE GOING ON A SELECTIVE SUBSCRIPTION? Does anyone have a PROJECT TAPE which he wants to sell as second hand for a resonable price? I'll be interested to have a play of one.

Thank you for your attention and I hope I did not brake any rules with this question.

Best regards from down under,

Tape Tech / Aligment of a REVOX C270
« on: June 02, 2010, 02:23:24 AM »
Hi Everybody,

I rebuild a REVOX C270 reel to reel and I need to do the electrical alignment procedure. REVOX service manual call for an extension card for that. Anybody has one I can borrow or purchase?
Also anyone has experience with this procedure? Anything I need to know beside what is written in the revox service manual? I am setting the machine up for 3-3/4" and 7-1/2ips NAB equalization.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Tape Tech / Heads Reconditioning Service JRF Magnetics
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:00:42 PM »
Hey People,

I like to inform everyone on this forum that I used JRF Magnetic Science for they head reconditioning service (relap). I sent them 2 blocks of my REVOX B77 4T and my REVOX C270 block head with some 4T heads I purchased on e-bay. Today my blocks arrived and I nearly wet myself opening the box. Even been located in Australia they looked after me. I found their service pretty resonable charge. Every head block came back with its own results test sheet. I hope that just screwing them back in my machine with teh complete block will keep all the optical alignments very close to perfect. I did not installed them yet on my machine but I can report back if are any people interested in my results.
Spoke with John French and Cookie French on couple occasions on the phone and they been extremly friendly. I will not hesitate to send them the remaining 3 head blocks I still want to recondition. A700 and 2 x B77.

Tape Tech / Adjustments in REVOX C270
« on: April 17, 2010, 06:08:51 PM »
Hi People,

I need to do electrical adjustments on my REVOX C270 according with the manual. The manual calls for cables extensions and cards extension in order to access the trim pots. Does anyone knows where I can get those or can I borrow and return (will pay freight no problems). Hope to hear from someone!
Best regards from down under.

Tape Tech / Spring Scale for pinch roller adjustment
« on: April 02, 2010, 04:27:38 PM »
Hi people,

I was wondering if anyone knows where you can buy an accurate spring scale (dynamometer) to adjust pinch roller tension and breaks. Something like 0-20N will do for now.

Thank you for your help.

Reel to Reel Tape Machines / REVOX C270 Conversion
« on: April 02, 2010, 06:07:30 AM »
Hi people,

I recently discovered this forum and I just join it. I am a R2R enthusiast from Sydney Australia. I always loved reel to reels and always owned at least a few. I think I had them all, every possible AKAI, TECHNICS, REVOX etc. Also I have original service manuals Nealy for every machine possible. I discovered that is a little bit hard to maintain them all so I cut back, sold few(some I regret now like my Technics collection). I fall in love with REVOXES and they are now my favourites. I have 3 x B77, 2 x A77, 1 x A700, 1 x PR99 and also am proud of my C270. I am not doing professional recording, just use it as to record and listen to music. I have a large collection of tapes but most of them are recorded on 7-1/2ips 1/4 track (listen both sides) in NAB equalization.

I read about the TAPE PROJECT and I can see that for "pure recoding" people go to 15ips 1/2track recordings. I feel like I am swimming in the wrong direction. I have this beautiful C270 and I am not using it because no tapes for it. It is 7-1/2 and 15 ips, 1/2track, IEC equalisation which is what most people look for and I want to convert it to 3-3/4 and 7-1/2, 1/4 track, NAB equalisation. The idea is to have a "good machine" to record with. Am I doing the right thing? I just feel like is a waste and NO WAY TO SELL IT! I am trying to make it useful to me.
I read the documentation, got the right equalisation boards and in the process of replacing the heads but again is this the right thing to do? I'd love to hear your opinions.
Thank you all,
Eugen
