Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Otari MX-55 XLR Pin Configuration
« on: April 23, 2012, 04:23:26 PM »
Hello,

I read somewhere in here about the XLR pin configuration on the Otari MX-55 but I can't find it.

My question is, what color is the "Hot" on a MX-55? I want to make sure it has not already been swapped.

Cheers

Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Re: Athan Roller for Otari 5050

Sorry I didn't see Steve's post about pictures before going over there. George makes very high precision replacement parts, like the pinch roller. I got the replacement for the B3 and it fits and works great.  He said that he needed to clarify the ordering process on the website so the B2 and B3 rollers clearly differentiated.  George has a quite large facility in South SF, near the airport.  Several very fancy $100K+ lathes. Nobody else was there yesterday, so I don't know how many people work there.  I think he makes a lot of stuff to order.

Thanks, Larry

Larry,

Do you have his contact information?

Never mind I found it http://www.athan.com/

Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Otari MX-55 Rewind Issue
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:10:57 PM »
Hello,

I'm having some issues rewinding tapes on my Otari MX-55, it goes pretty well until 3/4 then it slows down and pretty much stop? And I have to help by hand to fully rewind it.

Any ideas?

Cheers

I'm also a European but I still not really understand what you are asking?

Are you asking what R2R to buy? All the choices are good you listed and if Revox is better for you in a service point of view, then go for it.

Hi Phil,

They have CY4108 and CY4109 in stock, but you are saying that I should only get CY4109?

Yes, I have the manuals, thank you

Hi Phil,

Looks exactly like my setup, but not as nice, did you find the side panel too?

Can you show me the feet you got?

Cheers
