i've heard Ballard described in many ways (my Grandma lived there for 50 years).....but never 'hauntingly beautiful'. OTOH it is a pretty cool neighborhood, if not as hip as Fremont.
Bop Street Records is in Ballard; with over 500,000 lps for sale.
sorry, i could not resist.

Only if Ballard had a troll just like Fremont!
Still, I've heard that Ballard is famous for her tea
shops.
I'll give you a tip, try basil infused oil from sotto
voce, I believe they have a shop at the Fisherman's
market. The best I've tried in my life, everytime I go
to Sea-Tac, I make a point of purchasing 2 or 3 bottles.
Far better and cheaper than all those fancy Italian
imported oils selling for big bucks.

And here I thought you were talking about Hank Ballard and the Moonlighters. I always thought "Finger Poppin' Time" was hauntingly beautiful, even more than "Work With Me Annie."
Unless maybe you were talking about Clint Ballard, the songwriter who wrote "You're No Good." Certainly Linda Ronstadt's cover of that great tune, especially the version on tape soon to appear on your doorstep, qualifies as hauntingly beautiful.
