Title: Studer A80 - A810 tape transport

This question is related to a tape machine to be used with a Tube Repro, mainly for playback. Which machine has better mechanics and should sound better with the Tape Project tapes?
I have a bias towards the A80 - electronic maintenance is much easier and almost all components can be bought easily, except the logic proms, as they are standard parts.

Both are very nice machines. Purely in terms of hooking up a Tube Repro, the A80 is easier to modify.

I agree with Doc's assessment.  The A80RC would be very ideal to be direct wired to the Tube Repro.  As mentioned elsewhere in the TP forum, the A80VU would need more work to accomadate the low inductance repro head.
