Title: Pacific Ocean Blue/Surf's Up
Post by: blaupunk on May 01, 2010, 04:12:02 PM
Perhaps more likely than Bread and Roses Musical Festival to make it into the running for consideration is this wondeful under the radar release by Dennis Wilson.  The deluxe treatment on CD and vinyl might mean that the tapes should still be pretty easy to find and are likely in good shape.
Not interested in that?
If not that then how about Surf's Up by the Beach Boys which is a hum dinger of a release which sort of gets lost in all the accolades of Pet Sounds.

I believe I suggested Surf's Up in an earlier thread....way better than Pet Sounds, IMHO.

I agree. "Pet Sounds" has been the defacto Beach Boys reissue for too many years. To tell the truth, I just don't enjoy it as much as "Surfs Up".
Sure, sure. "Pet Sounds" is Brian Wilson's Sgt Pepper's. I think we've all had that beaten into our brains. But anyone who's seen these guys live want more hits.
