Title: Making our tapes look hi tek

You just never know what those crazy steam punk guys are going to come up with next!
This band was including a wax cylinder of one of their tunes to the first 40 buyers of their new CD.
Unfortunately, they're out of them right now but I'm going to keep an eye on their web site to see if they make more available.
What,.. you don't have a wax cylinder player?  They provide instructions on building a rudimentary wax cylinder player for under 20 pounds. Of course, I have an old Edison that I've been meaning to restore myself.
And the name of the band you ask. It's "The Men Who Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing" of course.

I have this kit as yet un-built. (of course)
I built their previous smaller one and was able to just barely get it to record and play something intelligible on an old cd. The same company, Gakken makes a little tube amp kit that I also have. It uses 1V. tubes. B+ is derived from a DC to DC  upverter from the filament batteries. It almost works OK as a headphone amp.

BTW, I think most phonographs of the cylinder era were capable of recording as well.

Here's one that works nicely as a headphone amp and avoids the upverter:

Yes, hearing your nice one @ head-fi prompted me to try my cheesy kit one for the same purpose.
Yours sounds nice, mine...works?
