Title: CD distribution
Post by: Stevebol on June 11, 2010, 02:25:01 PM
I'm making CD's out of classical music concerts my parents have done over the last 40 years. There are about 20-25 hours of music on cassettes and reels. They would like to make them available to sell but I don't know anything about selling, distribution, marketing, etc.....
Can someone tell me how to go about this?

If you plan to sell them, the first thing you need to do is get the rights from whomever owns them. That is, the musicians, the composers etc..

I'll have to look into that. I'll start with the composers that would fall into public domain.
Most of the recording were done at the universities where they worked and they were put on cassettes from reel to reels.
It's all solo piano, two pianos or one piano-four hands.

I finally got this sorted out and decided to put the CD's on Createspace.
