Title: Teac A7300 2 track

Hello all and thank you for all the assistance you've provided so far. I have just purchased a Teac A 7300 2 track 7.5 and 15ips deck. I am waiting to sell my house and will relocate to Florida. Once sold, I will then find a great place to send the A7300 for refurbishing. However, until then, I plan to play the few 2 track tapes I have.

Can anyone guide me to where I can pick up some very good and good looking NAB hubs for this deck?  Are there any metal hubs to be found anywhere? I will also be looking for 2 very nice 10.5 metal reels. Any guidance I can get will be welcomed. By the way, if there is anyone familiar with how to begin taking care of this deck myself I would appreciate your knowledge and guidance. Thank you all for making me a part of this wonderful experience.

Of course my plan is to get this deck prepared for the Tape Project's upcoming 2 track tapes. I am very excited about this.

Hi, 

For reels and hubs check out http://www.darklab-magnetics.de/.  They have several new reels in a number of finishes and hubs with or without the aluminum trim.  The hubs are identical to the Revox type hubs.  I'm not familiar with the deck you have so check to make sure these hubs will work.

For something closer to home try http://www.usrecordingmedia.com/.  Lots of other supplies there too and they are very helpful.

Thank you so much for this very useful information. However, the shop in Berlin appeared to have some very interesting stuff, in particular the different reel adaptors. However, I was not able to understand a thing. And further more, how were you able to find out what the prices were in US currency?  I would love to order a set of those reel adaptors. Thanks again for writing.

Hey Bob,

I was hoping to offer those adapters, but getting them is tricky. I tried to get them at OEM pricing from Darklab, but they didn't answer my inquiry. I ended up purchasing just a few through an Italian gent who occasionally had them listed on ebay. Unfortunately I haven't seen any listed by him for a few months now and the ones I had are all taken.

Oh, so the Italian guys adapters are actually Darklabs,.. I was wondering if there was enough demand for 2 different shops to make 'em. I think I saw some on the bay less than a month ago but, it may have been longer.
BTW, I think if you google darklab you can get a very iffy translation.

Yeah I ordered a couple of full adapters with alu "hubcaps", and one pair of hubcaps only to go on a pair of original Revox adapters that were naked. Aside from the color of the plastic and the logo the Darklab adapters are identical to the Revox ones as far as I can see. There are also lots of guys who sell the replacement O rings and a few who sell the nylon pucks that go inside. I got some pucks but haven't tried them yet - ended up slicing my own off of a Teflon rod.

Hi, 

For German to English translation I just used one of the free internet translation web sites.  Do a search using German to English translation and one should pop up.  Then a web search for currency rates (Euro to USD) and you are there.  The trasnlators are not 100% but close enough for jazz. 

Frank Brattig from Darklab ([email protected]) also writes email to me in perfect English which helps to confirm the order.

Frank called me on the phone a few months ago and he explained that Darklab actually purchased the original molds from Revox making them the same minus the Revox logo.  The new hubcaps are machined aluminum and are very nice.  The original Revox hubcaps are polished and have a different finish on them but are similar.
