Hi everyone, I'm restoring a few RTRs at the moment, and have a decent condition Technics 1520 missing some parts. This is a slightly taller machine than the other 1500 series, as it has XLR connectors on the back. I think the width of the machine is the same as the others. I need:
-wood side panels
-top metal cover
-pressboard back.
I can get the side panels made up, so mostly it's the top and back I'm looking for. If anyone can assist, that would be great.
Thanks!
Curt

Hi,
I thought I was the only one with a RS-1520. (grin) I don't have the parts you're looking for. But I though I'd give you a tip.
We had about 15 of them to do dubbing with and one went nuts and the speed would vary for no apparent reason. Panasonic couldn't fix it, even after many tries. So, I traced it. Too many driver transistors, etc. But a great machine. The trick we found was, after a couple of years running in the Miami, Fl sub tropical climate it would fail. The culprit was the speed switch on the front panel made at least 15 separate contacts at once. The Switch, that looked like a Jap copy of the old "Stack Pole" switch, had a very thin coating of beryllium or something and it wore away pretty quickly in the warm humid climate. Yes, we had good air conditioning. So, you replace the switch. Everything is ok. And of coarse, the switch is behind the big ole capstan motor's flywheel. It's a hassle, but I can still do one in 20 minutes.
Cheers
