Here's a fantastic video made by BBC 4.
It includes interviews and film and audio of many of the folks who were involved with the 4 albums that the show focuses on.

A must watch for jazz fans IMHO!

Dear Steve,
Thank you again for a time I remember well as a black man. Well do I recall the music and the times. I began to really get into jazz in 1954 when I went into the US Army where racisim was rampant. I was arrested in Danville VA when a white friend and I would not go to the back of the bus. This while we were both in our army uniforms. Many times when I returned from military duty while in South Carolina I would find my jazz LP records in the trash. My love for jazz and classical music was what kept me going during those terrible times.

I am familiar with each jazz group represented in this YouTube Video and loved the music. As a matter of fact, I wanted to play alto like Paul Desmond. I loved the Dave Brubeck Quartet and more that proud of his stand regarding the race issues back then. This YouTube musical presentation brought back so many memories and I am so thankful that many of them are good memories. I am so happy that jazz and I continue to thrive. Thanks again Steve and I am so very thankful that times have changed regarding music and race relations which continue to move forward.
