Title: Tascam 58

Got a problem with my Tascam 58. If you press "play", its a full couple of minutes before anything happens and the reels move.
Any ideas please?

Most of us put our names in our forum signature so we don't have to keep typing it every time we post.

Regarding your question.
It would help if you went into more details.
Does this "delay" happen in any other functions (ff,rewind)?
Do any of the functions seem sluggish once they start working or is everything normal once the reels begin to move?
When tape is threaded, does the capstan turn appropriately for each tape speed?
Is the machine new to you, if not, did this start all the sudden or did the problem seem to get worse with use?

Don't know how to the the Signature thing sorry.
In answer to your questions, no the delay only happens when I press the play button.
The rest of the controls are ok.
Think theres only one speed on my machine.
The machine isn't new, had it since 1995 when I got it second hand.
Yes, it started all of a sudden.
