Title: Update on Tape Production?
Post by: tomdellomo on November 03, 2013, 06:35:23 AM
Gents,

Any word on if/when tapes will be available? I call the TP office probably once a week to check on status and usually get the machine. I've left messages, but I never hear anything back. I did receive an email back in the summer 2013 which indicated that I was on the "list."

I'm frustrated! Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

We are in the process of shifting things around a bit, with two basic goals in mind. One is to continue the production of the yet to be released titles, of which we have five left to produce. The other is to establish an inventory of earlier releases and to make this inventory available via a new web site.

As of last week we moved Tape Project's packaging and shipping operations into a new facility. My daughter Kate was working for TP last summer, getting out as many albums as possible before she went back to college. Over that period we caught up something like 150 album requests, which translates to something like 475 man hours of album production. We had a short period of downtime while we looked for the new space and last week our old friend Shawn Phelps came in to take over for Kate and he is in the process of organizing the new facility and bringing packing and shipping production back up to speed.

The end result of this should be that soon one will be able to go on line, see what we have in stock at any given moment, and order an album from that inventory that will ship very soon after. In the meantime do give us a call toward the end of the week and we can probably give you an idea of what we can ship.

Hey Steve,

Yes, that's me!

I got hooked on Doc's stuff after building a Seduction and Quickie. Now I've gone off the deep end with a few more (actually a lot of) Bottlehead projects including an Eros Tapehead pre for my new acquired 1506.

You probably don't remember me, but I helped run one a few of the Bay Area Head-Fi meets with Christian (Cee Tee).  I certainly remember you and your awesome tape rig.  Seeing and hearing your rig, along with Docs, is one of the reasons I decided to give tape a try!

Tonight I'm getting the "before" experience.  I fired up the 1506 and I'm listening to some vintage 7 1/2"/s tapes using the Technics internals.  My son thinks it's the coolest thing he's ever seen... and he said "I've never seen anything like that before!"

Anyway, it sounds pretty darned good, but I know I'm going to be in for a treat once I give this old beast a good overhaul and get the Eros up and running.

Sorry to derail the thread!  Thanks for the welcome.  I'm glad to be here.  I know I'll have some questions for you guys after I've digested the fantastic beginners guide.

Chris

Another little update - Shawn has a few earlier albums in the process of packaging that should be ready to ship late this week. I believe this includes Arnold Overtures,Exotic Dances from the Opera, Waltz for Debby, Creek Bank and Saxophone Colossus. Contact Eileen at queen at bottlehead dot com to order one of these albums.

Great news!
I believe that "Waltz,.." and the Rollins are listed as 'out of print' on the catalog page.

Yes, as I said above the website is out of date and will get an overhaul soon. The Bottlehead site will launch a new look soon and TP's site facelift will follow. I will give updates here on what we have coming into stock in the meantime. Until we have everything reworked the best thing to do is call Eileen to find out exactly what we have in stock on any given day. 206-451-4275

What's the status of the two missing series three titles? No hurries or pressure, of course!

Just want to mention that a third of what I posted that we had just restocked was sold yesterday. So if you have had in mind to purchase any of those Series One albums, be aware that they are moving pretty quickly.
