I should have checked the thread on the Tape Trail on the Audio Asylum first - yesterday's news, although nobody seems to know who it is yet.

Great to hear from you!
Lots of speculation out there and plenty of "IFs" .
And, even though "we'll know when we know", it is kinda fun to wonder.

My guess is Studer will open sort of a "custom" shop for large multitrack machines and mastering decks like the 820.
And depending on demand, they could branch out.
The tough part about any kind of new production would be support. Both parts supply and service people.
But, Harmon Int. certainly has the deep pockets so anything is possible.

I meant to ask everyone on this last night - I haven't seen any follow up news. Has there been any?

I don't know anything about a Swiss deck going back into production, but there might be something of interest brewing a little closer to home. That's about all I have to share at the moment.
