Hello,
Can someone please recommend a source for a quality (tho not too expensive) DIN to 2 phono adapter? I wish to use the 7 pin MONITOR DIN, on my Revox, to get a cleaner signal into my phono laden stereo receiver. I went on eBay and I'm a bit confused on the different pin layouts and specs. What should I look for? Oh, before I forget, the same applies to getting a DIN to 1/8" rca (to plug into my sound-card).
Also, and this may be an ill-informed question but is it possible to record using the DIN on the PR 99 ?

Many consumer machines of the 70s had a 5 pin 180 degree DIN connector as an alternative input/output connector. You could sometimes find a pre-made 6-8' cable from that to 4 RCA plugs or a shorter adaptor with 4 RCA in line female jacks.
I don't know what Revox did, but I have hooked up to these in the past on Japanese machines and I think the levels tended to be different than the RCA jacks. More sensitive input and hotter output? Going from memory here.
I never found a color code that worked.
I would play a tape and find the 2 RCA's with signal, then if the machine let me, I would switch to only left or only right channel to determine which was which of the output pair, then put the machine into record pause so I could see the meters and perhaps with a set of phones plugged in, feed signal to one channel at a time looking for meter indication / listening for sound or hum as I tried the remaining 2 to determine left and right input.
Some machines actually had a separate input switch position for the DIN input rather than the RCA input.
