Reel to Reel Tape Machines / Re: Otari MX5050 BII repair questions

Get a can of contact cleaner with lubricant and spray out all the switches well as they oxidize and cause alot of problems. This is quite common with otaris, however, they are built from high grade parts and clean up well! The MX5050 had been designed with maintenance in mind and is a pleasure to work on in comparison to other machines of its size.

Hi Chris and Mr IronBut :)
I have a Otari 5050BII-2 and desperately need schematics as the transport is dead. Does this unit need the dummy remote plug installed to allow the transport to function?
Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated as I am really friggin stuck here
Cheers

Hey Chris. I am interested in the LED conversion. My main problem is I bought a mx5050BII and the dummy plug for the remote is missing. I found a site that says to short pins 1-3-8; 4-6.This is not correct as my machine still does not function.
Can you help please?
