awww...   its the wrong model :-(

The one I need is A-3340S....unfortunately it seems that the A3340 is quite different. (Different motor-type and schematics)

But thanks for trying

hey steve

thanks for your reply, and good hints.
To the best of my knowledge, I do believe you've been thinking of two very plausible causes...  unfortunately, I've already checked both of them out, without luck.

We're running at 230V 50Hz, and unfortunately, the switch is already set at "50Hz".

The speed is very stable indeed, just a little too fast.

I've also checked that the pinchroller is engaging properly, but all seems to be in perfect order.

This fault is driving me nuts! hehe
I've been trying to post about this problem at tapehead, but I have to wait a little because the moderator has to check if I'm a naughty boy or not, before making my post public.

Meanwhile, I've been doing a lot of searching around the net, and found a page where the specs for this machine is listed... this guy claims that the a3340 has a PITCH-control, enabling it to increase 5% in speed.

Well... IF such a adjustment is present, they really did a great job hiding it.   I've been looking all over, and didn't find anything.

Can any of you confirm wether the a3340s really has got such a Pitch-control or not?

Regards,
Kim

hey mate,

Thanks for the advice.  I'll give that a try right away.
I'm still very puzzled with this fault...  As far as I can see, the speed is "controlled" by the way the motor itself was designed.
To change the speed from 7,5 to 15, it seems that all it does is to change over to a different pair of windings.

If this is correct, it is beyond me how the thing could be running fast....

Anyway  - I'll see if the guys over at tapehead can help me crack this nut

Thanks again!

hey guys

I've got a problem with a nice old Teac A3340s : Its running too fast!

Not as much as turning the singers into chipmunks, but still..   its quite noticeable.

I'm a trained technician, but since I've mostly worked with the Akai W2W's (my favorite ;-)   those are the only ones I've got the service manuals for.

To my knowledge and experience (both of which are limited with the Teac machines) there is no speedcontrol in these machines ?

I really hope one of you guys will give me a hint, it really would be a shame not to get this machine on its feet properly again.

Thanks in advance!

regards,
kim
