Suggestion Box / Indie Labels....
« on: February 27, 2007, 01:49:33 AM »
It might be easier to secure cooperation with some indie labels.  The music might not be suited to this type of operation where you're looking to appeal to many tastes.  I've been on a Neko Case binge recently.  I should look to see what was recorded in analog.  I think "Blacklisted" is on analog tape.  Something like that might be a good target.

Man, every copy of Synchronicity I've had was pretty rough sounding.  Do you think it's bad mastering on the vinyl/CD or the tape?  The audiophile reissue from 10-15 years ago was pretty nice, but still gave me some listener's fatigue.  I didn't buy the SACD.  Does it sound appreciably better than the CD/LP?  Just wondering. I'd hate to see a lot of effort expended for something that still sounds so-so.

Suggestion Box / Re: Suggestions--Neil Young!

Since Neil Young is an analog lover, and very anti-establishment, his catalog might be a possibility.  NO?  I would imagine he'd give a thumbs up to something like this, though the label guys couldn't care less.  I'd love to hear that stuff on tape.  Maybe even CSN and CSNY.

If Decca is a possibility, then why not the Solti-Chicago-Stravinsky-Rite of Spring?  It's a fabulous recording.  Great playing and sound.
