I beg your pardon,.. for your information, I've honed that "do nothing technique" to a fine art! Not only that, but I've found that it's possible to apply that technique to just about every area of my life. So before dismissing this, I suggest you sit yourself down and veg for an hour or so, and "walk a mile in my shoes"!
Seriously though, I think you might be onto something there buddy. So much of the Dolby system is devoted to standardization of the way that it encodes/decodes so that producers of say, cassettes can know that the decoder in every machine it is put in will be processed in much the same way. Who's to say that some slight changes in the way these tapes are decoded can't be improved upon.
