Merry Christmas Tape Project Members
« on: December 25, 2008, 12:39:39 PM »
So here it is Xmas again. With everything going on in the world today, this one really snuck up on me. I'd like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts regarding the TP and this forum.
I'm just as enthusiastic about these tapes as ever. They are such an aural treat for me that it's very special each time I listen to them. I've played a few of them hundreds of times now and I still can't discern any degradation in sound quality. Actually, I hadn't even thought about this in a while and it's a relief to think that they don't have to be treated like that living room that your grandparents had that was filled with plastic runners and slip covers. I think that the guys have done a crack job in making the selections for this first series too. Sure, there are one or two that don't get played very often, but I could say the same for at least half of the LP's that I selected for myself.
We've had a lot of very knowledgeable folks join our ranks this past year and I'd really like to thank them all for sharing their experience. I'd hate to think that I'd be stuck at the same level of understanding forever and reading and participating in their threads have helped me decide what I need to look into next. I still get the feeling that some of our members feel a little shy about asking for help here. I say, jump on in!  There are , of course, a couple of other forums like the Audio Asylum's Tape Trail, the Yahoo reel to reel group, and tapeheads.net which are also excellent for getting advice. I wish I had more time to check out these sites myself but, I spend way too much time surfing the web as it is. I do hope that members that are new to reel to reel read the Beginners Guide and check out the reel to reel links stickies.
I've wasted enough of your Xmas 2008. I hope all you guys have a fantastic holiday.
