« on: May 14, 2009, 06:27:14 PM »
We will be lending our SonoruS modified PR99 mk III to Todd The Vinyl Junkie, as well as a nice clutch of TP & other tapes for demonstration at the LAX Hilton between Friday 29 May - Sunday 31 May. Todd will be demonstrating this through the new class A Luxman P200 headphone amp. Hopefully he will have a bunch of the new Sennheiser HD-800 headphones as well. Todd can be reached at 866-444-3910 for more detials.
thanks
Philip

Cool! I'll have my rig in the Summit-fi room (I think it's the Catalina room A). If you make it down, make sure and say hi.

Hopefully Arian Janzen will be able to make there too. I'm sure he'd like to check out your PR99!

Hey Phillip,

Could you give us some details on the PR99 modifications? I'm really looking forward to hearing some different "takes" on the pro-sumer R2R upgrade paths that folks have taken. Of course I love my Repro/Technics but I'd be the last to say that there aren't other avenues that have been or will be taken that aren't just as valid. In fact, I wish I had the means to fly my rig around the world and share it with other Tape Project members and listen to what they've come up with on their own .
I tried googling SonoruS but couldn't find anything that I thought might be who had modified your deck. If you could do a post under the "Tape Machines" forum with Sonorus and Pr99 in the header that would be great.

If my memory serves,  Arian probably did check it out - when he built it for Phillip

Duh! I guess you might be right about that Doc,..

I just got some cool news today.
I did my usual shameless promoting for CanJam about a month ago, posting links on several other web sites and the like.
One of the things I did was contact a site called Revision3 which hosts several online video-casts (they started with podcasts). I watch it fairly often since many of the guys from the now defunct TechTv are now there and I was a big fan of a show they had called "The Screen Savers". I knew that some of those guys are interested in audio and headphones so I figured it couldn't hurt.
So, to make a long story short, they're going to tape a segment for the show Tekzilla while one of the hosts, Patrick Norton, goes around and samples the offerings. So there's a pretty good chance that the Tape Project should get a some free press out of it.
