are they any good?  I was give a pair and told they run at a very slow tape speed, was wondering if they could be worked up to use tape at the higher speeds, 7 1/2?

Probably low bandwidth logging machines.
However, Scully and Dictaphone were the same organization at one point, so the machines might be some relative of the Scullys. They of course made studio machines or at least ones for radio stations. It probably is not easy, nor worth it, to change electronics, EQ, tape speed, head configuration etc. etc. to make it be a high fidelity stereo machine.

thanks, Steve, I guess it's off to the dump for these, I was told (and I note markings on the control box) for recording at very slow speeds AM and FM broadcasts, maybe playing prerec program tapes for voice-oriented material to be transmitted over the air...
