Just checking it will work
« on: April 15, 2012, 02:22:12 AM »
Hi all,

New here - just has a question which I know will be easily answered.

For some time I have been considering investment in a rtr and have my eye on a Tascam 32-2B on eBay UK which sounds like its been looked after.
Can someone confirm this is the right spec to play 1/4 track 7.5ips tapes?

Thanks in advance
Chris Harris

Hi, (btw, we use our real names here on this forum, please read "Forum Rules")

The 34 came in several configurations. The 34-2B is a 1/2 track machine so it won't play 1/4 track tapes.
You might wish to check out the "Beginner's Guide" located in a sticky above this forum. Toward the end (IIRC on the third page) there's a good post regarding track formats on tapes and heads.

Phew, thanks!
I nearly bought one - that would have been a mistake.
