UK Bargain Hunters
« on: July 18, 2012, 06:51:23 PM »
I usually don't make a habit of posting "for sale" type stuff, but it would seem that this is just one of those weeks.
If you haven't heard, the BBC World Service is slipping under the wheel so to speak and they're beginning to auction off their equipment.
The "phase 1" auction is a full 66 pages of stuff like Studer 807's, a butt load of PR99's, probably more Senheisser 480 headphones than Senheisser ever had in their warehouse, tons of Roger's monitors, Technics turntables (and even a couple of EMT's!) a few consoles, a gazillion cd players, workstations,.. well, you get the idea.

Some of this stuff is going for super low prices (of course these are auctions but when you have 20 PR99's, everyone should be able to pick one up for pretty near the starting price?).
So, if you're in the UK and have a little time to look over the listings, here it is:

Oops, guess they're just moving so this is more like a garage sale!

After posting the link to this auction on another site, one of my Brit buddies saw fit to inform me the significance of the World Services' move.
Here's an article and a video that gave me an inkling of just what he was talking about.

There are a number of articles and videos on the web with memories and pictures of Bush House.
