Two Simple Questions for Nagra T Audio Owners

What is the width of the machine, thats the chassis the whole thing sits in, without reels mounted?

Also, if you have the rolling Mobile Unit Cart, what is the aprox. height of the cart.

Hello:

The Nagra TA chassis is 40cm wide + the dolly mounting hardware = around 17" (i.e. intended for 19" rack mounting). 

The TMU dolly puts the back of mounted reels at 96cm and is 54cm deep.

As you may have seen, a TMU went for $202.50 yesterday on eBay.  Hope someone on this list was the winner.

Btw, I was the bidder at $89.90 -- which was what I call a "saftey bid" just in case no one was bidding for real.

I don't have a TA (although I once had an 8-channel TI, a German upgrade to the machine from which the TA is derived) but I was planning to adopt the TMU as a roll around for my Nagra D.  It's currently sitting on a Tektronix oscilliscope stand.

Having bought/sold 1000+ items on eBay, I'm generally happy to step aside when someone else needs something and have a few arrangements in place to co-ordinate bidding so that wars-among-friends don't break out.

Someone on the Ampex list set collected everyone's eBay handle at one point, so that potential conflicts could be negotiated.  Even though eBay now tries to obscure identities, perhaps something like that would be helpful around here as well.

Thanks for your compliments.  I was just trying to keep up with Doc B...  I know my T will never sound as good as Doc's but it sure will look prettier than his with that ugly brown stand! ;-)

I was intent on winning the jazzy stand and bid $911 in honor of my daughter's upcoming birthday.  One before this one sold for ~$189 and thought I should win it safely.

Steve mentioned above about coordinating bidding on eBay for items of interests to this group.  I support the idea.  However, it will be hard to manage...

Folks:

All I'm suggesting is that the forum might collect the "secret" eBay IDs for active bidders.  I'm e***m (at the moment), for instance.  Ki has just told us that he is i***z.

Mapping IDs to list-members would let people watch who is bidding (i.e if people place early "I-want-this-item" bids) and a) potentially make side agreements to avoid bidding wars and b) identify losing bidders who might be interested in side deals.

As I mentioned, I have deals with a few friends to step aside and avoid a war.  When I see that l***l has an early bid, I email Gary and we decide who is going to bid and how much -- based on who really wants it and in the expectation that the favor will be returned when the next one comes up.

Ebay took away the ability people had to contact other bidders because they thought it was hurting their business -- which was actually just saturating as the "garage sale" wound down naturally.

Rather than share IDs here (and perhaps bring down the wrath of eBay on Doc, Steve and the boys) we might simply have an area to post "There's an XX on eBay and I'm thinking about bidding on it".  If someone else is interested they can contact the poster via PM for whetever purpose.  If anyone ever complains, you are just helping eBay by advertising their auction.  Just a thought.
