Hi Larry,
With regards to HRx and getting it to "go" on a PC, you certainly do not need 9k!  That's crazy talk there, IMHO.  All you need is a modern PC or laptop with firewire and a pro external DAC that does BOTH the A/D and D/A conversion at 24/192 will work.  Plus, as you say, lots of storage.

There are plenty of DAC's out there now that decode up to 24/192, but thats just the D to A side.  You need the A to D side too.  There are some cheap options out there that do the 24/192 both ways, like for example the TC Electronic Konnekt 8 at about $500 or better yet an Apogee Rosetta 200 (used ~$1200).  These have firewire, go 24/192 "both ways" and can interface with your PC and do the HRx stuff either straight from the PC or IMHO better yet, spit them out to high speed open reel and listen from that instead.
