Hi Steve, great meeting you. I had some OBGYN jokes that I totally forgot but I'm sure you've heard them all. That "special" tape of yours was a real hi-lite of the day. Thanks for sharing that!
That and the other tapes that Richard Links and Paul brought really made it a treat and I'm just sorry that all the other members couldn't have been there to hear 'em.
And what an great thing it was to have Paul there. It's so easy in a hobby like this for rumors and misconceptions to propagate and take on a life of their own, but having someone who really knows and has been there in the trenches is a rare privilege indeed. It helps that he's such a nice guy and doesn't mind sharing what he knows (for those who don't know, it's not unusual for pro's of any stature to look down their noses at audiophiles). So thanks Paul, it's always a pleasure to see you.
I was very keen to meet Richard Links from over on the Tape Trail. Over the years we've had a few interactions and his posts have always been very informative and civil. Maybe it was the sports jacket but I just couldn't picture him rooting around to find all those insane finds he makes (if you have kept up with his antics he's the one that discovered the Fantasy master tapes at Urban Ore up in the east bay along with countless other great items). What a nice, bright guy he is! And sure enough, he had a story about stumbling across a stash of 2 track Mercuries that had us all drooling! I real pleasure meeting him too.
Well, I could go on and on but I don't want to make you guys who couldn't make it too envious.
