Try again tomorrow after it sits overnight, powered down. If it won't play unless it's turned on for a while there might be a bad capacitor in the reel motor control circuit. But - I'd suggest a thorough CLA (clean, lube, adjust) before you start any electronic troubleshooting. If it's been sitting for a long time the bearing surfaces may just be gunked up with old lube that got a little less gunky as the machine sat at idle and got a little warmer.
