Hey Good Guy Steve,

I have certainly missed you and all the other great forum members. The fact is I have been desperatly working on getting my turntable situation taking care of. I am in the process of stripping down my Cranfield Rock turntable and only using the massive bearing, platter and maybe the Excalibur tone arm for now. I plan to purchase another tone arm as soon as I can get through all of the pros and cons regarding different tone arms. They run up to extreme prices which is just amazing to me. There is a new/old company (Jelco) that has been making tone arms for other turntable manufacturers for many years. They have started putting out their own tone arms and they are fantastically priced. I am taking a hard look at them now.

Also I am still trying to get a listen to the Eminient Tech LTF-8 speakers. I want to see what the difference is between them and the Magnapan 1.6 speakers which I have heard and love. If they are equal I will go with the Maggies. However I have acquired a Parasound belt drive CD player which I am loving. I now have a rather large selection of jazz and classical CD's which I am listening to until I get the turntable up and running. I don't think CD's can replace the LP and newer 45 LP's. It's aways great to hear from you Bob.
 Everyone here goes through changes of focus and that's a great thing about this hobby. Where you pour the energy you have left after a hard days work, is entirely up to you. I have a few projects (room treatments are just one example) that I just never can seem to get to. All the materials for them are out in the garage so all I need to do is put them together (they've been there since Oct. 2008).

I think if I had the money I'd collect tonearms. They are the jewels of audio IMHO. They have gotten totally out of hand price wise but so many of them are hand crafted and the designs are totally agonized over. There were some like the SME lll that were so cool looking but not so great sounding. And then you have designs like the RS Labs RS-A1 which are whacky looking but sound great. I kept meaning to pick up a Dynavector when they were selling for dirt cheap but it kept getting shoved to the back of the "purchase" queue and now they're going for insane prices. I'll never forget the way that tonearm looked on a Gale turntable in my local audio dealer way back when (Garland Audio). It was like sculpture.

So good luck with your current pursuits and be sure and "check in" with us from time to time.
