I just purchased a tascam 85-16 1" 16 track recorder. I have been on the look out for tape and came across some blank 3M 986. In the
description they said the tape was comparable to ampex/quantigy 456, which is what my machine is set up for, is this correct ? Also they said
it was not a hub, yet in my manual for the machine they call for NAB (large) hub only. Sorry I am pretty new to the tape world.
