I am restoring this machine for my 13 yr old son who's just crazy about vintage stereo equipment. I'm in the dog house for the number of hours I've spent with this machine! I must say that I have enjoyed the challenge, but have run into a snag.
I would appreciate some help with selecting a better material or perhaps another solution. The deck came with a type of "cork" brake pad and I have replaced both sides with a little thicker cork with some result but not satisfactory. I have considered thicker cork or switching to rubber. Any suggestions would be most helpful.
Also, does anyone know how to properly clean toggle switches and potentiometers so they work for a long time not just a few weeks. I don't want to ruin these components. I've read that it's just better to replace but if I can get good results by cleaning, hey all the better.
By the way, I'm a newbie to the forum and I have enjoyed reading the many posts. You all rock!!
Thanks!!!
