General Advice/Tips/"Technique"...
« on: July 24, 2010, 07:17:34 PM »
I'm looking for some general advice tips (personal technique) for making a multi-song "master" tape.  For the purpose of this discussion, let's say it's 1/4" half-track (2-track) at 15 ips.  Some basic questions that come to mind are:

- How long a leader do you typically use?  Trailer?
- Time (e.g. leader stock) between songs ("tweeners")? (3 sec?  5 sec? ...)
- Paper vs plastic (mylar) leaders/trailers/tweeners?  (why?  how real is "static"?)
- 45 degree editing splices tape to tape?  60 degree?  Butt (90 degree) splices for tape to leader?
- I'll presume "tails out"...
- Suggestions (besides thorough labeling/documenting) before "long time storage"? (e.g. store vertically, low humidity (<- add small desicant pack?), low-ish temperature, ...?)
- Any other general thoughts/tips/techniques (or "industry standards")?

Thanks!
