You guys that have been around here for a while know that I'm a headphone crazy. I guess that they'll always take a back seat to speakers for me but depending on my mood or situation, I always seem to be paying more attention to one or the other.
Once a year my fellow Headfi.org buddies gather together and throw a listening party (headfi has over 55k members worldwide). This year it's taking place at the LAX Hilton on the last weekend of May. I'll be dragging my Tape Project rig down there for folks to get a taste of tape and that's one of the ideas behind these "meets". All over the world, fellow headfi members hold local meets where they bring their rigs, exchange ideas, and share what they've come up with. These local meets happen a few times a year, at someones house or a donated or rented meeting room. At a large local meet there may be as many as 50 folks but at the Annual, we're talking hundreds. This one lasts 2 days (Saturday and Sunday-05/30> 05/31). We have several blocks of hotel rooms at special rates already filled so if you'd like to stay the night, PM me and I'll provide a link to the group rate (this has to be done before the end of April).
There'll be lectures, love music and quite a few vendors but the real attraction will be a chance to listen to just about any headphone/headphone amp you're likely to ever heard of. These will range from humble computer sourced systems to large dollar (with headphones we're talking $25k+) member owned rigs.
So, if you live or happen to be in the Los Angeles area at the end of May, come on by. There's going to be a small registration fee to cover the cost of the room rentals but I bet you'll have lots of fun. I know we do!
